“TRAVIS TALK”
Growing up in Wendell as a kid was always a fun time!
My little brother Bryan and I along with my cousins Vince and Paige were never bored. I guess that’s because we were outside for the most part, and we had huge imaginations. I thank God that we grew up in the time that we did before technology took over everything. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the benefits of all the technology that we have today as much as the next person. Such as something as simple as air conditioning in cars that most kids take for granted today. Or even seatbelts. LOL. I mean we had those things, but I don’t remember ever using them! What I do remember is riding in the passenger seat of my mom’s old Chevy Vega with the windows rolled down, listening to Mix 101.5 FM on the radio, sitting my little butt on the armrest of the door hanging halfway out the window pretending that I was riding a motorcycle. And the only seatbelt that I remember was my mom’s arm going across my chest when she had to stop suddenly! I also remember going to dinner as a kid in my uncle Paul and aunt Becky’s Chevy Caprice. Vince and Paige sat in the back seat, and I guess there was room for me too but, that’s no fun so I laid down in the back window without any adults telling me not to because… it was a different time. That would have been fine except we had a wreck and I ended up in the front seat that night. LOL. Let’s just say it was a sudden stop! These are just a few memories to date myself I guess as I will be 50 years old this May and I have been working at Universal Chevrolet full time for 30 of those years in just about every department that I can think of so, I must love it! But seriously, I say all of this as an example to tell you that over those 30 years that I have been doing this… there have been a lot of safety features added to cars and trucks to keep your family safe. Such as vibrating safety seats for lane keep assist and lane departure warning, blind zone alerts, front pedestrian breaking and safety alerts for possible forward collision and for when you are getting too close to an object. They even have rear cross traffic alert that detects approaching vehicles to keep you from backing into them when pulling out of a hard to see parking place. We’re proud to say that six of Chevrolet’s current 2024 models are some of the safest vehicles on the road. The Trailblazer, Equinox, Blazer, Camaro, and Malibu as well as the 1500 Silverado’s have all attained the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 5-STAR Overall Safety Rating.
This is awarded only after an extensive series of crash tests and makes me very proud of our brand!
